Close to 800 faithful attended the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral on Sunday, January 19. With young clergymen Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian and Rev. Fr. Krikor Zakaryan assisting at the Holy Altar, the day’s celebrant was the Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.
After the Divine Liturgy the Annual Stewardship Luncheon commenced with opening remarks by Rev. Fr. Krikor Zakaryan, Pastor of St. Garabed Armenian Church and a graduate of the Stewardship Program. Remarks were also made by other Stewardship Program graduates including Rev. Fr. Khajag Shahbazyan, Pastor of St. Leon Armenian Cathedral and Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian, Pastor of the Armenian Church of Crescenta Valley. In their remarks, the young clergymen expressed their gratitude to the Primate for his pastoral love, support and guidance as well as the Stewardship Committee for their relentless dedication in preparing the future pastors of the flock of Christ.
St. Garabed was represented by Parish Council Chair Ms. Sonia Matossian and Mrs. Genny Kelekian.
