Since 2009, three churches of the Western Diocese including St. Kevork (Portland), St. Sarkis (Santa Clarita), and St. Apkar (Scottsdale, Arizona) have been consecrated by Diocesan Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and currently serve as spiritual shelters within their respective communities.
At 4 p.m., on Saturday, January 7, 2011, the Primate will preside over the consecration ceremony of St. Garabed Armenian Church in Rancho Mirage. On the following day at 11:30 a.m., the Primate will celebrate the Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon inside the newly consecrated church. All faithful are invited to witness the historic event in the life of the Western Diocese.
